How far in advance do I need to book?
I don’t take bookings that are more than two years away. I get booked around 12/18 months in advance. Once you’ve chosen your date, then start booking the suppliers that are important to you, especially if they can only work on one wedding per day.
How long have you been a photographer?
I assisted and acted as a second photographer in 2009 and shot my first wedding in 2010.
How would you describe your photography style?
Mostly documentary. My biggest request from brides is 'to have pictures of guests when they don't know they're having their photo taken'. While it's not that simple, I get the gist. What couples are actually looking for is something that's not stuffy, staged or contrived. They want their day captured as it happens, whether a guest knows I'm taking their photo or not. Sometimes they definitely do know, I'm up close in their face, and other times they don't know, that's Ninja mode.
How would you describe your working style?
A bit of a mixture. I tend to blend in, most of the time I'm looking to be discreet and capture a moment without disturbing or influencing. Then at other times, I'm on the dancefloor, in peoples faces, having a laugh, and getting along with everyone. Plenty of people want to talk to the photographer, even if it's to ask questions about cameras lol.
What type of equipment do you use?
I use digital cameras, small, discreet beauties that get the job done and allow me to work with greater freedom. All my digital cameras are Fujifilm X series. I dabble with analogue and have a few film cameras, 35mm SLR's, a medium format (645) and Polaroid camera. I chuck them into the mix occasionally.
Do you shoot in colour and black & white?
Yes. The majority of images I deliver will be in colour. I love colour photography, but I also love black & white.
Can I give you a list of specific shots we would like?
Yes and no.
The yes! I need a list of formal group shots that you require. I don't have any traditions or formalities and only shoot group shots my couples request.
The no! I don't want or need a list of staged poses, or a list that includes... "A photo of the cake... A picture of me walking down the aisle... A photo of the groom with his best man". I don't need that because I know what I'm doing, trust me, you're paying me for my vision ;)
What information do you need from me before the wedding day?
A list of any formals you require. A timeline of your day with addresses and contact numbers.
May I have a list of references?
Of course. I have a lovely Kind Words page, reviews and feedback on my facebook page and I'd happily pass on contact information, only if previous couples were happy with me supplying this.
Do you have backup equipment?
I've got so many cameras that I'm in the process of selling some off (as of July 2017), I never arrive at a wedding with less than two bodies and a few lenses. Multiple memory cards and lots of batteries, 14 at the last count.
Are you photographing other events on the same day as mine?
No. My weddings take up most of my day. 12/14 hours including travel is common.
How will you be dressed?
Smart and comfortable. I did start out wearing a full suit, but that was far too much, too hot too stuffy. I wear smart trousers and a shirt.
Is it okay if other people take photos while you're taking photos?
I've nothing against guests taking photos but do have a few concerns. Most of the time it's totally fine, but I won't be shadowed by another guest who is following me around all day or using your wedding to build their portfolio.
Why not encourage your guests to be present and enjoy the day? And not worry about capturing every detail and moment on their phones. Most of which they'll never even look at again.
Picture the scene... After years of dreaming, months of planning and thousands of pounds spent on your dream day, you're finally walking down the aisle, and most of your friends are watching your day through their iPhones as they record the moment. Doesn't sound great, does it? It could be worse; they could have bought their iPads ;)
What packages do you offer?
I currently offer ceremony only, half and full day wedding photography.
Can I customize a package based on my needs?
Yes of course.
How long after the wedding will I get the proofs?
Up to four weeks. You'll receive all final edited images within four weeks of your wedding day. Supplied on USB, available as a download and featured in an online gallery for family and friends.
How long after I order my photos/album will I get them?
A couple of weeks. Once your album is designed, and you've given it the OK, then the order is processed. I would usually receive the album within ten days of ordering; I'd then arrange a time to deliver it to you.
How much of a deposit do you require and when is it due? Do you offer a payment plan?
£195 is the booking fee. To book your date I need a signed agreement and a booking fee. The remaining balance is then paid as and when you like, weekly monthly or as a final lump sum payment. I require full payment four weeks before your wedding date.
Do you have any questions?
If you have any questions that remain unanswered, please get in touch, thank you.
