Questions couples ask
Everything you might want to know before booking, from how it all works to what happens if it pours. If there's something I haven't covered, drop me a message and I'll happily answer it.
How do we check if you're free?
Send me your date and venue through the contact form, by email at derek@derekanson.com or on WhatsApp, and I'll tell you straight away. If I'm free, we'll book in a relaxed video call to chat through your plans.
How do we book?
Once we've chatted and you're happy, a £295 booking fee secures your date.
Will we spend all day posing?
Not a chance. I photograph your day as it happens, with a little direction when it's needed and nothing staged. Portraits are quick and relaxed, so you're back with your guests before you've missed anything. Group photos are on request, and I'll get through them quickly.
What happens if it rains?
Rain doesn't stop a good wedding, and it doesn't stop me. We'll work out a plan B together, and I'll grab any dry spells for portraits so you still get the photos you want.

Do you really shoot film?
Yes. I shoot digital and 35mm film side by side. Digital makes sure every moment is covered, and film adds the grain, colour and softness that make a photo feel like a memory. You get both in your gallery.
When will we see our photos?
You'll get sneak peeks within 48 hours, and your full gallery within about four weeks.
Can our guests see and download them?
Yes. Your photos live in a private online gallery, and you and your guests can download them for free.
Do you bring a second photographer?
No, it's just me. You get the same person from the first call to the last dance.
Do you film video?
I'm not a videographer, but every collection includes GoPro video of your ceremony, so you can watch your vows back whenever you like.
Can we get an album or prints?
Yes. Albums, prints and canvas wraps are all available as add-ons. Just ask and I'll send over the options.
Do you travel?
I'm based in Billericay, Essex, and photograph weddings all over the UK, with travel always included. Getting married abroad? Get in touch and we'll talk it through.
What if our day doesn't fit one of your collections?
Just ask. I'm happy to put together something that suits your plans, and quieter dates come with off-peak pricing.
