This weeks chosen image is from a wedding that took place at the popular Gaynes Park, Epping. At the venue, Apple Loft Cottage had been put to good use by the bridal party. I had covered bridal preparations and was with the bridesmaids as they were applying finishing touches. The groom and his party had arrived and had been ushered towards the Orangery, this is where the ceremony was taking place. The Orangery is a short distance from the cottage and can bee seen from the main bedroom window. I was anticipating a bridesmaid having a sneaky look at the grooms party but what I got was all four crammed in and getting a not so sneaky look! It was a lovely moment and after shooting a couple of frames it was over.

When I’m at a wedding I like to take couples, groups and of course the bridesmaids to one side and get some lovely shots. I do this throughout the day and hopefully I get who and what I want before everyone has had too much to drink;). These beautiful bridesmaids (and partners) are from a recent wedding at Gaynes Park, Essex.

I love this image, not technically spot on but what does that matter when the groom looks like he’s about to burst! Look how happy and proud the man is! This is just before he has a look over his shoulder for the first time at his beautiful bride.

Gemma & Rob enjoyed a beautiful wedding day at Boreham House, Essex. It was my first time at the venue and I was very impressed! It’s absolutely stunning. There is so much to admire, the formal lake that leads up to the luxurious Stately Home, the beautiful grounds, the fantastic staff and the modern Pavilion all inspire and provide a stunning setting. Gemma & Rob are lovely to be around and are easy to get along with, they make a beautiful couple. Their wedding day went smoothly, very relaxed with absolutely no dramas. The wedding ceremony took place early afternoon which left lots of time to explore the grounds, get the required formal shots and to enjoy the day. The evening reception took place in the Pavilion which is modern, spacious and light.

Emma & James enjoyed an intimate wedding ceremony at Brentwood register office. The register office is a converted cottage, small and beautiful and was perfectly suited to the occasion. After the ceremony we had 10 minutes or so outside in the sun, congratulating the happy couple and grabbing some relaxed informal photos before heading off to lunch.Our ride was a lovely old bus from Lodge’s vintage fleet of vehicles, the journey was through narrow twisting country lanes which didn’t do much for my motion sickness 
but was really enjoyable. The Chequers in Matching green was the destination and it’s a venue i can highly recommend, excellent food and service all in a beautiful setting. Emma & James had a fabulous wedding day, everyone was so warm and friendly I felt like I had known them for years. Here are a few images from the day and a slideshow, hope you enjoy!

The happy couple wanted to have their engagement photos shown as a slideshow at their wedding reception. I think that is a fabulous idea and would encourage my future couples to look into this. Many venues may already have the equipment in place or if not, I’m sure we or I could arrange something. As a little surprise gift I also delivered a DVD slideshow that I thought would be watchable. I’m not that great when it comes to choosing suitable music for slideshows so I tend to stick with what is suggested for the chosen theme. The music sounds happy enough, maybe too cheesy for some ? I’d love to know your thoughts.

Vicky & Chris got married! The ceremony took place at Langtons House in Hornchurch and then we moved on to the Great Sir Hughes Barn in Chelmsford for a nice meal and fun party. I had previously met Vicky, Chris and the family a few years ago on what was probably one of my first ever portrait sessions. On Vicky & Chris’s wedding day everyone was so friendly, I felt like a guest and not just a hired photographer for the day.
Chris feels the same way about having his picture taken as what I do, I really don’t like it and neither does/did he. He did mention that leading up to their Pre-Wedding engagement shoot he was hoping I was going to cancel. On their special day, Vicky & Chris were really relaxed and knew what to expect… I think Chris even started to enjoy the experience . That’s just one of the advantages of meeting up with the camera before your wedding day, there will be no fear of the unknown and everyone will be far more relaxed when it comes to those beautiful portraits.

Langtons House is a lovely Essex wedding venue that I’m familiar with and enjoy working at. For 2012 I will be adapting my wedding day packages and adding an option specifically for Langtons House. The packages will be targeted towards those that are looking for ceremony coverage, a few formal group shots and some lovely intimate bride & groom portraits within the grounds at Langtons. Remember Caroline & Lloyd? This is their wedding day. The day began with me covering bridal preparations at Caroline’s parents home. This is a good time to get to know those close to the bride and other venders involved on the wedding day. Everyone was welcoming and I had a steady supply of coffee and snacks;) which is always a good thing. It was the first time in a long while since I had to work alongside another guy with a camera. Fortunately for me Richard from Your Perfect Day was friendly, professional and easy to get along with. He also happens to be skilful with a camera and has produced a fantastic highlights trailer which can be viewed HERE.
How was the weather? Like nearly every wedding I’ve worked at this year we had lots of rain and lots of sun. We got lucky and dodged most of the rain which has been the case all summer. It has always stopped when needed to and was only light when Caroline arrived at the church. The wedding ceremony took place at the St Mary Magdalene church in Great Burstead, Essex. The church is Spacious and with large windows which let in plenty of light, always a good thing for available light photographers like myself. We all then moved on to Blake Hall in Ongar. This was my first time at Blake Hall and I was very impressed. The refurbished barn is where events take place, it’s spacious and light and the surrounding grounds are stunning. Time permitting, I would suggest exploring the grounds as the backdrops and scenery is changeable and makes for some beautiful photo opportunities especially later in the day with a low Sun.
