Pre-Wedding Engagement Photographer London
Pre-Wedding engagement photography is popular with couples in Asia and has been growing in popularity within the UK. It is not uncommon for couples to fly to London and to other European cities especially for their pre-wedding photo shoot. A shoot combined with a short break can be a great opportunity to spend some quality time together, escape the stress of wedding planning, enjoy the sights and have fantastic moments captured that are cherished forever.

Most of my recent pre-wedding engagement photo shoots have taken place in country parks in Essex so it made a nice change to head into the city. This pre-wedding engagement shoot took place outside Buckingham Palace and in St James’s Park. On this occasion time was against us and we had to deal with fast changing weather conditions but we still managed to get some lovely shots and have lots of fun in the process. I enjoy the interaction with my couples, I’m not sure what i say most of the time, I guess I waffle on a bit… but we get results and the feedback I receive is positive. As for British summer time… It must have been a first for me that a couple loved the heavy rain! my camera & lenses have good weather proofing (i think?) and a little bit of water now and again has not been a problem in the past, so I was more than happy to carry on.

Not all wedding photographers offer pre-wedding engagement photography, I’ve only recently began exploring this area myself. If your wedding photographer doesn’t offer this service there is no harm in seeking out someone that does. It may even make a nice contrast in style to your wedding day photography. The freedom and opportunity to do anything you fancy may not be possible on your wedding day so it really is a great opportunity to put a shoot together. Your photo shoot can be anything you want it to be so get thinking, be creative, plan ahead and budget for the experience.
If you like what you see and would like a portrait shoot then get in contact. You don’t have to be engaged, just in love. It will be a similar experience, I’ll just drop the ‘pre-wedding engagement’ part of the title.

Image of the week is more like Image of the fortnight at the moment. It’s a very busy time of the year and I have loads of work that i need to catch up with so is a little delayed. I’m just taking a break from the editing to post this. When I take portraits of guests at weddings I try and get something a little different to the standard ‘stand facing me and smile’ pose. I use that pose as a starting point but with a few prompts and a little interaction it’s easy to get away from something standard to something more interesting. This is a photo of the best man & his partner and was taken in the grounds of Wickwoods Country Club, Sussex.

When I first met up with Rowena I was around 1 hour late… not good. The drive to Brighton was a nightmare and took over twice as long as it normally does, terrible traffic and i got caught up in a classic car rally. Our little consultation went really well but me being so late was playing on my mind so i was genuinely surprised to get the call… You’re hired! I think my determination to get there and sit through the traffic went a long way. I wasn’t going to take any chances on the wedding day so i travelled down to Sussex the day before and checked into a hotel.
Like most of my wedding days this summer, the day started with rain but then brightened up when it really needed to. The wedding ceremony took place at the Parish Church of St Andrew, Steyning. We then took the short drive to beautiful Wickwoods Country Club for the afternoon reception. Here are a few pictures from Rowena & Leo’s wedding day and the highlight slideshow follows…

I first met Mel & Chris last summer at the wedding of Naomi & Constantine. We got along really well at the time and I got the call to work at Mel & Chris’s wedding soon after. The wedding ceremony took place at St Andrews church in Romford before moving along to the Holiday Inn located in Brentwood, Essex. It was my first time at St Andrew’s and it’s a good place for photographers. The church is spacious which allowed me to move freely without distracting and the large windows provided lots of good light. Available light photographers like myself would have no problems capturing discreetly, flash free, even on overcast days. I’ve worked at the Holiday Inn Brentwood before, the function rooms are really nice and the staff were as helpful and polite as on previous occasions. The wedding day was fantastic, i really enjoyed being part of a special day with a couple very much in love.
Sometimes not everything goes to plan… people are late, the weather can be terrible and tiny details are not quite right. Of course everyone wants a perfect day, but If things don’t go quite so perfectly stop and remember why you are getting married, thats the only thing that really matters. A special mention for the beautiful bride Melanie who managed to get through the day despite the pain and discomfort that comes with ligament damage. A real super star and definitely not a Bridezilla 
!!

This image is all about anticipation, seeing the moment unfold & getting the shot quickly. This was shot with a Canon 7D at 105 mm, which would be around 160 mm on a full frame? I tend not to use a long zoom, I prefer to be amongst the action or up close engaging with my subject. On this occasion the longer lens allowed me to nip in and capture the moment pretty much unnoticed and also compressing the depth of field which helps make this image.

First up is Melanie & Christopher, a lovely wedding that took place in Romford before moving on to Brentwood. The following weekend i was in Steyning, for Rowena & Leo’s big day.
